2024 Color Trends

  • Oct 9, 2024

Feeling all warm and fuzzy? Well apparently, Pantone is feeling the same way about the year 2024.

The Color of the Year is described as a “velvety gentle peach tone whose all-embracing spirit enriches mind, body, and soul.” Now doesn’t that sound like a color you just want to wrap yourself in?

This color is all about comfort and going into the next year, and we all need a little calm and ease, don’t we?

Pantone’s 2024 Color of the Year goes to… Peach Fuzz! (PANTONE 13-1023)

Some say it reminds them of their grandmother’s bathroom décor, others say it reminds them of a springtime tulip. Let’s see what Pantone has to say about their color of the year.

“In seeking a hue that echoes our innate yearning for closeness and connection, we chose a color radiant with warmth and modern elegance,” says Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute. “A shade that resonates with compassion, offers a tactile embrace, and effortlessly bridges the youthful with the timeless.”

How does Pantone select the Color of the Year?

According to Pantone, there isn’t one big global meeting in deciding the color the of year. Moreover, it’s a collection of the art of color forecasting over the course of the year. A group of color-attuned people look at current trends in design and culture globally and continue the conversation until a unanimous decision is made at the end of the year. That’s 365 days of “What’s your favorite color?”

How long have they been doing this?

Pantone is celebrating 25 years of the Color of the Year program! Since 1999, they have invited us to look at color differently, by building a connection within it and through the art of human expression.

The first Pantone Color of the Year was PANTONE 15-4020 Cerulean Blue. It served as an influential color backbone for designers around the globe. The program continues to select color(s) each year and will continue to for years to come.

“We are grateful to have provided an avenue where designers and color enthusiasts all over the world feel empowered to tell their own stories through the language of color and showcase their creativity within their communities,” says Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute.
